Why do I keep having to tilt my phone!

If I open my phone in landscape mode and open the message app it should automatically turn the screen orientation to landscape mode on my iphone 6. But NOPE! I have to turn my phone right side up and then turn it again(sometimes mulitple times) to get the phone to realize its in the wrong orientation. Never had this problem before on any iphone or any version of ios. Most annoying bug ever.

Messages app works fine for me, but Google Voice does that same thing now since updating to iOS 8. It always opens in portrait, and you have to tilt the iPad back and forth if you want landscape.

I think there is a gyroscope/accelerometer bug in iOS 8. I have many apps that do not orient correctly as you describe.
