Why do I see duplicates of my replies in Mail.app?

When I reply to someone and I look at the 'chain' conversation, all of my replies are shown twice, but the other person is only seeing 1 of them like they should. What's going on?

One could be stored locally and the other on the server.

That seems to be a manual, do every time-type thing... I'd just like it to not be an issue to begin with.

I've googled and can't seem to find anything either.. weird

Try going to the View menu then uncheck View by conversation. How does it look then?
