iPod touch Why Do My Files Keep Deleting?

So I completely regret buying the itouch 4 -_- such a waste!
I have a 2 part question....
1. Why is it when I sync my ipod to itunes my ipod apps automatically go in my itunes? How do I stop it from doing that?

2. My comp is slow so I cant keep songs on my itunes :/ How do I change my ipod to the manual setting? I cant find it and whenever I delete something off my itunes it automatically deletes off my ipod when I sync to itunes.

Can anyone help me make my ipod worth the buy?
