I've looked at instructions on how to jailbreak my iPhone. Every set of instructions I've seen says you have to downgrade your firmware to 1.1.1.

Why is that? I'm running 1.1.3 and don't really want to fuss with downgrading the firmware.

The 1.1.1 firmware has an important flaw in it that they exploit to jailbreak. In more recent firmwares the flaw is fixed.

I'm in the same boat, my friend. I advise you to wait. First of all, the sdk comes out in a month and I really don't want to risk downgrading and possibly lose all phone capabilities. (The only set of downgrade instructions I have come across invloves sacraficing all phone capabilities) Second, this jailbreak was just released and usually they find safer, even faster ways to jailbreak within a week or so. Third, right now most installer apps are designed for 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 so you really aren't getting the most out of the jailbreak.

I hope this helped.
