Why Does Apple Call it AirPlay on AW?

Does anyone else find it curious that when you select the playback device for Apple Watch that its labeled AirPlay when the watch itself doesn’t even support AirPlay? Why not call it audio when you hit that control center button or Bluetooth Audio or something - seems like an odd thing to do. How many owners that don’t know any better are wondering why they can’t send audio from the watch to the HomePod or Apple TV?
