This is really irritating, a good percentage of pictures I send are cut off and I frequently have to manipulate the picture and screenshot it before sending just so it is fully visible. Wtf is the deal with this??

I’ll send stuff and people will tell me image is cut off, so NOT everyone knows to tap the image. In fact, sometimes I’ll add, tap image to see ... xyz.

Yeah my point is you shouldn’t have to, not everyone knows or cares to do this and it’s annoying having to repeatedly explain
Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the picture tiny if you don't tap on it? Like... it's so very obvious that you have to tap it to see it fully. Even my parents understood that without needing to be shown.

Yeah I don't get this. I have never had to explain to someone how to use the message app and see pictures. pretty intuitive.

Frankly this is an intuitive feature that would unfortunately indicate a fault of the user, on par with asking why turning on your Mac doesn't automatically open the Microsoft Word app - its just is the way it is.

I also admit there have been Apple user interfaces that have not been naturally intuitive (ex. Force Touch menus on the older Apple Watch models), but clicking on a picture in a text thread to open it full-screen just doesn't fit the bill in my opinion.

I mean, gotta click, hold, tap or use some other form of selection to go fullscreen in almost any app on almost any device. Been doing it so long thats its just second nature to me. If I need a picture or video larger I look for the button or gesture to make it happen. I will admit, it seems like I have had to explain how to open pictures fullscreen in the messages app an inordinate amount of times. That being said, if it opened fullscreen automatically, we would have a bunch of people asking how to get back to the message screen because there are no “buttons” showing.. gonna have to tap sometime.

No, the result isn't always the same, If you send a pic and it has a face, face is visible, but the recipient isn't aware there are words above the pic. The picture isn't always small and intuitive to tap on it. I'm sure you folks have missed the whole image as well.

Solution, apple could show the whole image when it loads and then shrinks down, so the user knows it is there.
