If I delete a song off my Phone and then plug my phone into iTunes and hit sync.. it automatically deletes the song from iTunes too.

why would it do that tho? I have iTunes set up where If I hit sync it syns any checked songs

when I restore My phone will it also delete music from iTunes since it deletes the music off my phone too?

Anyone know?
I want to restore my iPhone but scared it will also delete all my iTunes music sync I have automatic sync for music that is checked on in iTunes.

Sync means sync - not copy.
If one device syncs with another, they both stay "in sync". If a file is deleted from a synced device, it will be deleted from the other device once they connect - so that they are in sync.

I agree with you that iTunes Sync is not unitive and sucks. If you don't want stuff deleted on other devices, don't sync with iTunes

should I switch to manually adding songs via iTunes before I restore my phone with iTunes?
I don’t want to lose all my music off itunes from a restore.

I never let it sync/touch my music. I end up just doing the manually adding songs setting. If you sync it, it will sync which means additions/deletions on the phone add/delete on iTunes if I recall. I'm very "do not touch my library" when it comes to iTunes. :)

Its easier when you are cleaning up your iTunes and fixing text and album art to have it re sync and update the tracks. It doesn't re sync the track every time.

Im just wanting to know about restoring or can I switch to manually adding music and then it will not change anything.

Does someone know where to move this thread to? Im sure many have changed from automatic add songs to iPhone that are checked in iTunes to manual. I just want to know if changing to manually removes anything from my iTunes or if restoring my iPhone will remove anything from my iTunes.

No, it will not delete your music in iTunes on your desktop when you reset your phone, regardless of whether you restore from backup or setup as new.
