well the boot time for mynew MBP is around 35 sec without automatic login so im guessing 35 sec is pretty good

but for some reason the menu bar items take awhile to load... is that ok?
cause on my old imac (see sig), everything would load up right away
oh and by while, i mean like 4 sec.. LOL, i know its short but im just wondering why it could be like that
oh and the dock too.. usually when the system is 'fast', wouldnt you be able to see the dock sorta 'load up' or spring up?
cause 90% of the time, the dock just appears...

edit:
i have istats (cpu, mem, hd, temp), timemachine, bluetooth, airport, volume, battery, clock (istats, not apple's)
could it be because of the 5400rpm drive?

it's because of the stock 5400rpm Hard Drive

If you upgrade to a 7200rpm drive load times (bounces) on first start of each program / osx will be quicker

Hmm, I don't think its the stock hard drive. The different between 5400rpm and 7200rpm is neglagable. My Rev. A. MBP boots in 23 seconds under Leopard and that has a 5400rpm HDD.
