I am shooting 4k on a Panasonic GH4. I am transcoding all MOV 4k video to 1080p mp4 before editing on Final Cut X 10.1.2

I've heard Adobe Premiere does not need to transcode files as FCPX does.

Why doesn't FCPX not have this "feature"? Is it hard for Apple to add?

Will FCPX users ever experience transcode-free sessions?

I often have to edit video quickly in mobile situations and the transcoding is killing my battery.

Did you switch to Premiere because of this "issue"? Are you glad you did?

Thanks.
