I've noticed that there's always this domain that contacts the apps, including photos, on a daily basis. Despite the back up function and iCloud photos being turned off, that continues. Even with the apps I turned off iCloud for specifically. The time it connects with the apps does not align with me using them, sharing photos or anything of the sort. Why is it happening? I would be glad to hear from people who know what it is. Thank you
 
That is an Apple API domain. Hard to say what API each app is actually calling. Just because it has “iCloud” in the name and you are not logged into iCloud services doesn’t mean apps won’t still call the API’s hosted there.

The apps initiate the contact, not the other way around.
