I have several smart playlists which are based on star ratings I have given songs. I discovered that the latest version of Mac iTunes had automatically given almost all of my albums, both ripped and purchased star ratings (they were blue) which means that my playlists had a bunch of songs in them I didn’t want. They were sings with the blue stars I gave them and grey stars that iTiunes gave them. So I spent several hours removing those star ratings from 200+ gigs of music; the album ratings were now light grey and none of the songs had grey stars applied.

So I synced my iPad logged out and next time I opened iTunes a bunch of albums had blue star ratings. This is a major hassle because now I cant use smart playlists based around star ratings and it takes a long time to remove those ratings. So how do I stop iTunes from automatically rating albums so the stars are blue instead of grey?
