Universal Why does MacBook update iOS apps?

My MacBook Pro often shows apps that need updating including apps for my iPhone and iPad. Okay, they are all on the same account so I thought it was just notifying me of the iOS updates so I could update them on my devices. But there is a button to update, which I click on and then it "updates" and the indicator goes away.

Not sure I understand what is going on.

(I tried searching for this topic but couldn't find anything.)
 
Sounds like you have the apps installed on the Mac too. I have several iPhone/ipad apps “purposely” installed on my Mac, but possibly a setting could cause it to install unknowingly.
