why does my 1-year-old iPhone Pro 13 still has 100% battery health?

it charges 5%/10% to 100% every single day.(due to heavy use for work)

Is there a chance that the battery health display giving me false info?

all of my previous iPhones always lose at least 3% to 10% by the end of the first year.

Magic…

Seriously though it’s just a number in those numbers aren’t accurate. I swear people lose 10% of their human life worrying about 10% of a battery. It’s $69 and $99 to replace it for $1000 phone. As René Ritchie says people will do crazy things like only charge their iPhones to 80% just to avoid having the battery go to 80% capacity 😂

Edit: my phone did exactly that as well right up to the week I traded it in, then it went to 99%

Your battery was originally over their conservative 100% mark. Apple never moves battery health up in its phones so it may be a while till you drop below 100% and it just keeps getting worse. 😬

that's probably it... 35 years ago, I worked at a frozen custard place one summer. The owner was a Korean lady who barely spoke any English. However, the shop was super popular. She would tell us to give customer extras..... for example, if someone ordered a medium, she always filled it so much that the frozen customer started to come off the side. Customers always felt special when they got so much and they kept coming back. If someone asked for sprinkles, she would put so much on the top, you could not even see the frozen custard anymore. :)

Use coconutbattery software to see actual battery health, it’s far more accurate than what you see in iPhone battery health settings. Software only works on Mac computers.

On my iPhone 6s Plus, when I view battery health in the settings, Maximum Capacity is 84%.
Coconut Battery, tells me battery capacity is at 67%. I believe it, because the battery barely lasts and quickly drains.

The other day I went hiking with my iPhone 6. Battery was charged to around 94%. Took 8-9 pictures and battery charge dropped bellow 50%.

If the battery health was 84% as the battery health indicated in the iPhone settings, then it would be able to hold charge after taking few pictures.

The battery health on my 13 Pro is 100%. The battery health on my 12 Pro at 1 year was 94%. I use a 12 watt Apple charger.

I only charge to 78 percent and never go under 20. I’ve never seen any of my iPhones drop below 100 battery health.

I only use the 5W Apple chargers that came with my earlier iPhones. (but sometimes use portable USB batteries when I'm on the go)
This could explain. The other thing is you may have a very good battery health out from factory, higher than the average (around 105%).

I also sold my 13 with 100% health. Yup, charged it with original 5W Apple adapter. And I'm a nerd, keeping it between 20% and 80%. 🤓

My iPhone 12 Pro from launch day has 97% battery life. Do I get a pony?

I use an Apple 12W charger and always charge to 100%.

OP got a gem. Never let go of it.

NO. The real gem is my original iPhone SE(2016, 4-inch) which I still keep around as a spare phone. In fact, I love it so much, I have a spare 4-inch iPhone SE for that iPhone SE. :)

Having said that, I also use the iPhone 14 Pro Max as my daily driver. (had to make a trip to Canada to buy it... for the physical SIM card slot) My iPhone 13 Pro is going to a relative in a couple of weeks.

My 12PM after a few months was under 90% battery life. Apple swapped it out after a button issue. That replacement 12PM stayed on 100% after a year another of usage.
I was surprised it never dropped down especially after how quickly the original one did.

But why?

I'm using close to 100% of its capacity. If that means my battery will degrade faster, and in two years the capacity is 90% of its maximum, it still provides more than you will ever use.

Depends on how you use your phone. Mine’s worth ~15hrs SOT on a full batt but I only have time to average ~7hrs per day, so I only need 50% batt/day.

IME battery management done right will provide my ~7hrs SOT/day needs for ~6+yrs (if I decide to keep it that long). Seems on track at the half-way point to me. Also it’s no worry or work using an automated optimization - just plug-in once a day and forget like anyone else.
