Why does my iMac keep ejecting mounted drives?

After a few minutes it will eject or disconnect from any USB mounted drive. My FireWire drive using a Thunderbolt adapter does not get ejected, but my Gamin bike computers, USB hard drive, etc. will get ejected by the OS after a few minutes. I have "put drives to sleep" disabled in the System Preferences. Any ideas?

I'm running Mavericks as well.

This happens with just my LaCie USB drive. All my other USB drives have no problems. I have yet to find an answer as well.

I had this with my seagate external drive, it happened a few times in a row.

Have you tried disabling "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible" in the Energy Saver Preferences?

I have found the same issue. I have select both prevent disk from sleeping and set display to never.

In 10.8 there was a separate slider for sleep and display.

Are you connecting the drives to a USB hub?
