So this is odd... I went from an iPhone 16 Pro, which has mmWave, to an iPhone Air, which doesn't. On occasion, typically in urban areas, I'd see the 5G UW icon pop up on my iPhone 16 Pro. However, I saw it pop up this morning on my iPhone Air, which doesn't make sense.

I'm on Visible Mobile, which is a Verizon MVNO.

UW can mean mmWave (which air does not support) or c-band (which air supports).

  • 5G Ultra Wideband is Verizon's highest performing 5G. Our 5G Ultra Wideband network uses high band (mmWave) and mid-band (C-band) spectrum to deliver a top-of-the-line 5G experience.”

I’m also on visible with an SE which does not support mmWave but will show UW in certain areas.
