Why could this be?

I find my 15 Pro “sluggish” at times. It’s like it’s in a sort of hibernation mode after screen on and it needs time to figure out what’s happening. It’s on the same release as my M1 iPad Pro. Same WiFi. But webpages loads slower. Opening apps feels “held back”. M1 is IMMEDIATELY there. I’m not impressed with the iP15Pro to be honest.

Well technically the M1 chip is a little bit more powerful than the A17 pro chip in your phone, faster ram, higher bandwidth etc however I wouldn't expect it to be noticeable so there definitely something else going on. For reference my 14 Pro Max doesn't feel sluggish vs my M1 iPad.

Maybe you've got a rogue app taking up resources, I've had something similar a while back on my 12 Pro max and a wipe and restore sorted it.

what versions of iOS and iPadOs are you running? Which - if any - adblocker? Which webbrowser are you using (which particular websites are affected)?

Adblocker, moi? 😎Adblockplus in Safari on both devices. iPadOS 17.7 (21H16) and iOS 17.7.1. Didn’t know I was behind on my iPad btw…should be the same. No 18 as I’m rocking an old Twitter pre-For You on my iPad which I’m reluctant to drop.

What I feel is most slow is camera startup. It’s like it’s confused sometimes. It’s not a HUGE lag but it makes my phone feel old…technically it is but, the iPad is INSTANT. Sometimes it’s also stuck in wrong lens mode. I change the lens and the screen still shows previous lens. I have to toggle between them to snap into it if you will.

I also have reduced motion off on both and no cross fade transitions.

Another curious quirk is unlocking phone and I have a blurred background. But for 0.5 seconds or so it shows it unblurred first and THEN blurs it. Common?

Don't have any of those issues with my 15PM on 18.1. My 12.9 M1 on 18.1 performs the same. Likely something is up with your 15P's software. I'd suggest a restore but you'll be forced to update to the latest version of iOS so it sounds like you're not interested in losing 17.7.1

Yeah, it’s….it really shouldn’t be like this. It’s bummed me out for a while actually. Hey, at least I don’t have battery issues hehe.

I’ll do it anyways for 18.2, I’m not a Full-On Luddite. I’ll do it when I’m in front of my compooter though, traveling now.
