When using Windows 10 the other day my Mac Mini s fan was going like the clappers and it was really hot. I looked on task manager and the CPU was over 90%.? All I was doing was a full scan with Windows Defender. I have noticed the Mac gets hotter when using Windows. And another thing the volume on Windows is a lot louder I have never needed it to be more than 50% on Windows and yet sometimes has to go to 80%or more? I am using a Thunderbolt Display. There is another setting on Windows Thunderbolt Intel Display which is a lot lower, I use the Speaker Display on Windows it is a lot louder than the Thunderbolt Intel Display why can I get more volume on Windows than on my Mac? I am wondering if you need something other than Windows Defender? If I didi would get Malwarebytes™ Premium I have the free version on Windows and Mac. I just did a full scan with Windows Defender it came up with this Hacktoolwin32keygen I have deleted the app it came with so why should it still show up? The scan I did last time asked me if I wanted to delete it or quarantine it but it could not remove it. It says Remediation incomplete? Why could it not be removed? Would Malwarebytes be able to remove it?

You created your own answer to the first question. No matter if you are using a VM or Boot Camp to run Windows it uses a lot of system resources especially when you are running a system scan.
The Thunderbolt Display sounds like it has its own pre amp which would explain the increase in volume.
I cannot say if MalwareBytes will be able to remove the hacktoolwin32keygen but I have read that it can, even quarantining it would be helpful but it definitely should be removed

The free version of Malwarebytes did not find anything. I have only ever done two full scans on Windows and that is in over a year, only done the quick ones and nothing showed on them. I have had the app that it said it came from all that time. I deleted it I should have checked if all the files had gone but didn't,:(

I download ESET,s Free Online Scanner and it did not find anything? If the HackToolWin32Keygen was still on there surely it would have found it.

dont use anything other then defender, defender is the best n will find everything when something is on ur machine... n the best: nearly dont need recources(except u make a full run, but in background nearly zero usage of CPU n memory)

n a full run i do maybe 1x every year, because the defender is so good, u dont need more(except u always download stuff from po*n/maleware sites).

Macs run hotter in windows because the cooling techniques used in macos are not employed in windows. Apple is not engaging the drivers and the system to run optimally in windows simply because they want users to use macOS

I'd say in addition to this, the Mac OS is probably optimized better for Macintosh hardware because it can be, as opposed to Windows which has to support so many different configurations that it would be difficult to effectively optimize for all possibilities.

I did buy a full version of Malwarebytes on eBay which was a coupon for 95% off :oops:he sent me a link to there site where I had to pay 5% that was for 4 years. Having done a full scan it did not find anything. I don,t know if the Hacktoolwin32keygen was taken off when I removed the offending app. I would never have known it was on there if I had not done a full scan with Defender that was the first full scan I did. Previously I had only done quick scans it always said it had left stuff out of the scans that must have been where the Hacktoolwin32keygen was. The only thing I don,t like about Malwarebyte every time I go pirate bay it says there is a Trojan there? I have never heard of just going on the page and getting a trojan on there.

Yes I get your point there Mike, but they do have Bootcamp for Windows on there.

I have used Macs Fan Control for a long time and swear by it for high CPU activities. Its free (except the Pro version) and worked well for me when I was running Windows in Boot Camp some years ago especially for games.

just checked with macs fan control: win10 and HS at idle the same temps... colling on both OS at "auto" for the CPU.
somebody knows a tool like prime for OSX? then i will check under load.
