It seems like sometimes my mac just randomly decides to log me off my user.

for example i was just sitting here doing some work, not using my computer, when all of a sudden the mac just logs off and i see the login screen. I had to re sign back in and reload, firefox, mail, adium, etc.

anyone know if there is a setting somewhere in os x that is logging me off automatically for some reason?

by the way im on a MBP 15 C2D.

thanks in advance

This was what solved my problem...

also check system prefs --> security --> 2nd option from the bottom of the page (log out after x minutes of inactivity)

I too was stymied by what I thought were "random" log outs by the system. When I stumbled upon this setting I could not recall setting it. It is either set by default (doubtful) or perhaps it gets set when you enable fast user switching. I had my iMac for a couple of months and it did not do this, but I recently enabled fast user switching and now that I think about it, the auto log outs may have started about then.

Or, it could have all been coincidental.
