I've had my 2008 Macbook Pro for several years, and it has always done it, through several iterations of OS X. When in sleep mode (lid open OR closed), it [seemingly] randomly seems to check the DVD drive. (I'm including a Youtube video, since it can explain better than I possibly can.) Any suggestions how to get it to stop?

Edit: It's a bit difficult to hear it, but it does it at :28, 1:40, and 2:16.
Also, notice the LED on the lid button doesn't constantly "breathe" as one might normally expect it do do, in sleep mode. (?)
