Why does my watch do this with notifications?

This is my first AOD watch and finding it frustrating. When reading a notification sometimes I don’t finish reading it and it blurs out with the time overlayed on top. Why is this? It’s awful experience

That‘s because the watch goes back to „wrist-down“ mode after some time and then protects the notification info from being visible to other people.
This time can be set in the Watch App.
