Hi,

I have noticed that Resting Energy (which is supposed to approximate BMR, as I understand it), fluctuates during the day, notably rising with activity. Can anyone explain this, as I would have thought the difference would be Active Energy?

Note that Active Energy also rises, but I would have assumed that the entire difference between baseline Resting Energy and Total Energy is Active Energy?

e.g.
Time. Resting Energy. Active Energy
4-5am. 78.5 0.7
9-10am. 101 106
11am-12pm. 106 180
5pm-6pm. 87.7 21.3

This can be more pronounced on a daily basis, where more activity (e.g. steps) results in higher Resting Energy and yet lower Active Energy, whereas arguably more energy was expended taking more steps.

Any insights?

FWIW Apple Support was not helpful.

Thanks in advance
