why does Steve need this?

To protect him from the barrage of pelted rotten fruit and vegetables when he announces a .1 ghz bump to the PowerBooks as 'one more thing' at his keynote in a few weeks time.

because giant cubes are sooo cool.

I want to get a few and use them like giant legos or something.

That would rock so hard..

LOL that is a good one. All our nightmares becoming a reality. :p

He's trying to "one up" Wonka by building a Great Glass Garage.

Or Star Trek had it right and Jobs started the Borg...

Eww... nerd alert!! Um.... Cricket's tops!!!

Seeing that this cube will be right down the street from where I work, I will definately take a walk down to snap a few pics and post them. perhaps once I see it I will understand its full glory??

This is also the same building where on the left side is CBS tv (they broadcast their morning show from there). and to the right is the famed F.A.O. Schwartz toy store. Apple will be right in the middle.

Maybe because a 32' diameter glass globe is a lot hard to build and move? And an octogon just screams "egomanaical".

Who wouldn't want a 32 foot glass cube. Bling bling.

Yeah Steve-O, Bling it up!!!

edesignuk, I have to say, that avatar really freaks me out. Not sure why, but it definitely does!

Well...I certainly hope it's not a prototype.... ;)

I'm more interested in just what he plans to do with his cube once the lease is up...

Just think how kick-arse a 32x32-foot PowerMac Cube with a clear case would be! I bet you could stuff a lot of Yona CPUs in there and one killer video card!!!!111:rolleyes:  :D

Apple Headquarters has enough space to handle it - and when you're spending $9 million on something, I don't think it matters who you are, throwing it away would be silly.

As a certified pack rat, I agree with that statement.

Hmm.. plus the extra storage space might come in handy with all the crap you horde! :)

Not sure what it would do to my property value though...and it would kill all the birds within a 5-mile radius...

On the plus side, you could start a side-job as a taxidermist and start selling local stuffed birds.. that or a caterer. :)

Hmm.. I thought he was a nice guy the 2x I've met him. YEMV, I guess. Of course, that was the FAT, jolly John Popper. :)

Yes mine was the fat version too, around 1993. If you are female that may explain things. Used to live right across the street from him and the band. My GF lived right next to him and always complained about NOISE!
