They showed this image in the keynote, showing the OLED panel folding under itself inside the iPhone, under the glass. Why did they design it this way if there are no curves to it on the exterior?

That's a good question, I found it interesting as well. I'm trying to picture what happens at the rounded corners with it folding under itself.

Maybe it's part of how OLED displays are manufactured?
 
Good question. Maybe the earlier ordered bendable oled panels from Apple, were just meant for this use?

Dunno why though..hmm
 
I think that is the reflection of the "room" in which the iPhone is. Computer generated room.
