For the life of me I can’t understand why Apple doesn’t let you set the pace on an indoor run workout. The watch does a terrible job estimating my pace on the treadmill. What are the odds this will get updated in the next year? What downside could there possibly be?

I run 3 seasons a year outdoors on a trail then hit the dreadmill during the Winter and my S3AW is scary close to the 3 different machines I use. Maybe try a few more outdoor runs longer than 20 minutes. If you already do this then sorry I have no other ideals.

What watch do you have? I have series 3 LTE and I don’t think it really learns my stride because it uses the gps. Either that or my stride is significantly different on the treadmill. That is possible too since I run a lot of hills and probably have a much shorter stride and run a slower pace outside.

Same watch as you, just LTE isn’t activated. I would say your stride and pace difference from inside to outside has to be the answer. I run from a 9:40 min mile to a nice comfy 12 min mile with an average of around 11 min mile no matter if I’m inside or out. I’m slow but I get there lol.

My paces don’t really vary as much as yours do so that is odd. It usually only gives me about 3/4 credit on the treadmill.

I think it still works on learning your stride even with gps. I noticed accuracy improved with my series 3 lte once I walked outside. Give it a try.

I’ve logged about 40 miles with it outdoors.
