I went into a Apple store with cold hard cash ready to be spent on any iPhone 4 case. I was told to order one from my phone app and I told her I want a case besides the free ones. Why doesn't apple sell any iPhone 4 cases, I mean any kind of iPhone 4 case???????

I know I can buy them on eBay but I'm impatient and when I had my 3GS I just walked in the store and walked out, no problem.

Seems the overal supply of cases is actually pretty low compared to the others. Think about it, when the 3GS came out there was already a years worth of cases that could be changed ever so slightly to work with the new one.

Now there is a whole new form to design around.

Now on the other hand if I wanted to put my Tin Foil hat back on I would swear Apple is cutting back on the cases they carry in stores. After all this phone is supposed to be so much stronger then the old ones. Just like they stopped carrying screen protectors...

Total speculation but... :p Maybe they don't want to deal with people test driving cases right now. Apple has a great case return policy and the more cases they have in the beginning the more they have to deal with people bringing them back. Probably doesn't make sense since they would still make money from stocking cases, but oh well. :)

Have you checked out places like Best Buy? I don't know about your local one, but the two in my area have some good cases that are available.

That was a rude and unnecessary comment directed at someone who was trying to help answer your question.
This is MacRumors. 90% of the comments are rude and unnecessary.

As far as the cases go, I would imagine that Apple low-balls the heck out of the case manufacturers. They (the manufacturers) probably prefer to sell though higher profit-margin avenues (like their own websites) at first.

Because people will want them for free instead of the bumper.

Actually, this is the fifth case online where I've seen someone want to buy it because they didn't want to wait a ridiculous 6-8 weeks with an unprotected device. One of my real life friends bought a case on Amazon because he didn't want to wait 6-8 weeks.

I'm hoping this is temporary because of the free case program. If they keep cases they will probably get people in the store asking why THOSE cases aren't free, can they exchange cases, etc. It's just more of a hassle for apple.

Winner

I think it's ridiculous that they have no cases for the iPhone 4. But just go to any AT&T store, they have plenty of cases. So does Best Buy.

My local BB had incase sliders and ifrogz cases in stock a few days ago. If you have a BB near by, might want to give them a shot.
