Why doesn't my iMac automatically connect to the web on startup?

Question says it, I hope.

I click on safari icon on dock but it fails to connect, so I have to go through several windows to get connected, putting the WPA key in each time.

Always after a reboot, and possibly after a logoff/logon situation.
