Why hasn’t this been done? Seems very odd that Macrumours wrote an article but haven’t pushed Apple for a comment.

Perhaps reading the full article would suffice. Macrumors did contact Apple, which assumingly Apple has not responded regarding the concern As of yet, being the article was published just three days ago.

Direct Article quote:

"But the suggestion that Apple is intentionally throttling the performance of older devices, for whatever reason, is bound to cause controversy. We've contacted Apple for comment or clarification. "

I know that but this could potentially be a big story and I would expect tech media to be pushing Apple for a response.

Has macrumours attempted to contact Apple again? The thread is getting bigger everyday and this site has a responsibility to act.

Create a fresh news story with more up to date write up. A lot more has come out in the thread since the original reddit thread. This could affect all iPhones.

Fair enough, An update is always beneficial, but are you hoping that Apple would admit to purposely throttling phones?

Apple's very PR savvy, and so its highly unlikely that they'll be so forthcoming in admitting to this. Short of reddit and some internet sites like MacRumors, this has not gained much critical mass and from apple's perspective why would they risk pouring gas on the flames by issuing a statement? Like many companies there's a certain logic in ignoring bad news, in the hopes it fades away. Many times it does just that and in a sense this seems to be happening AFAIK.

ETA: As you can see, a story of this nature will be followed up on when relevant information is available. It's not their responsibility but reporting on this type of story is at the root of MR's mission. New update on Thursday:
