Why/how did I receive an alert that a thread was started?

This alert showed up for me under the bell icon, and I'm not sure why. I'm not following VaZ, nor am I watching the 'Mac Apps' forum where this was posted. Is there something I'm overlooking, or is this some sort of a glitch?
