I get asked this by people all the time ....

applewatch4-44_gold2.jpg

I bought a gorgeous Apple Watch 44 Stainless Steel Gold with stone sports band. It really is beautiful and has an elevated feeling of beauty and ownership joy over the aluminium version, which I had before in series 3.

Well I am honest, if you just want the time and date then an Apple Watch is not a good solution. Better off with a nice automatic that doesn’t need charging every day.

But it so much more, and I kind of feel the version 4 has gone over a significant threshold.

This is of course personal to me, and everyone’s take is different.

Let’s start with health and sports. It’s good to now how many steps, stairs, calories and activities I have been doing each day, and it encourages me to try and do more. The new heart rate monitor is better in that I now have a almost continuous recording all day. It’s great to see the variation in heart beats and establish what is a normal pattern for me. This will help in the future if any issues start. And of course I have done an ECG on all my family :)

This is only scratching the surface though. Everything is more then the sun of it’s parts. The person I love is more then a liver, pancreas, muscles, bone, blood and a few billion neurons. They are a person. The Apple Watch is now an assistant.

Let me explain. I can go out, in a suit, in shorts and t-shirt, in a swimming costume, etc... without a phone. This is the major breakthrough.

I get phone calls, texts, the weather and all the info I need for short term rambles. With Stocard I don’t even need to carry my discount cards, but more then that, I can pay for most things just with the watch.

I haven’t even talked about the world time, London tube map, currency exchange, calculator, finance apps, GPS map and a 100 other things. Everything I need most of the time, all in this little package.

It’s so awesome, every time I explain this to someone they say I should be a salesman for Apple.

Disappointments ? There are some. When the **** is WhatsApps going to make a watch app. Oh and looking at your heatbeat and calorie usage during sex is less interesting that I thought ...

Apple has invented a device that was more of a toy, and it has morphed into basically a life digital assistant, Heath support and information provider.

In the far future they will probably just inject a chip into your skull, but I prefer my gold SS watch - as I can uselessly stroke it during the day :D
