I bought an Airport Express to extend my home network and haven't had much luck. I already had an Airport Extreme, AppleTV, MacBook Pro and iPhone 3GS on the network but the signal was low for the ATV so I figured an AExpress extending the network would be the right fix, turns out I was wrong.
I had the AExpress about halfway between the ATV and AExtreme with a printer plugged into the AExpress via USB. I got the USB printer to work exactly once for every time I did a hard reset of the AExpress, it didn't matter if I power cycled the AExpress or printer or both. Sometimes I would get a decent connection with my MBP, most of the time not so much. I have all the software/firmware up to date but still had no luck. Tonight I chucked the AExpress in the trash, I had a better experience watching movies with my MBP plugged into my TV with an HDMI cable than I did over the ATV with the AExpress in the network.
