I've always bought into the idea of the 'real estate' of the square face being the optimal way of showing more detail and I still do, however, immediately after downloading the GM version of watchOS 7.0 showing the new GMT face I had to draw a parallel with the GMT-II Rolex that I also own and the lack of presence this gives the face when cramped in.
I then looked at the other similarly round faces and really began to think about how good this would like on a 54mm arrangement in a circular presentation.
I can't deny now that I'm really wondering if Apple are actually going to make that one of the differentiating factors in the S7, I'm sure along with other cool stuff.
Going round and 54mm will still offer a ton of space in the middle and I'm really looking forward to what they do on the update next year (which I'll probably take from my S5 regardless).
