Really though, that's his own dumbass fault for relying on a message board like that

Yes.. as a professional journalist he shouldn't have. But even CNN has been reporting "news" from message boards.

If a journalist is going to quote a message board- someone who SHOULD be smarter - just imagine the average lay person who might not be as savvy.

Point is - if I didn't put things in perspective when deciding if I should get my first iphone (the 3gs) or not and I came here - there's not a chance in hell I would ever buy one.

Sounds like a really stupid analyst to me. A place where people only go when they have a problem and are looking for an answer isn't a very good demographic to base overall quality.

That guy should definitely be fired. If I were his boss and found out he made a decision based on a forum poll then he would be gone. I could see maybe seeing a forum poll and then deciding to do a little more research into the subject, but not an entire decision on just the poll.

I was at the Apple store the other day and 100% of the people coming to the Genius Bar had a problem with their Mac or iPod!

OMG! All of Apple's products have defects!!

lol

good thing he doesn't check out macrumors

with all of the pissing and moaning about the iPhone and it's defects, the analyst would think the iPhone sucked...He would lose a LOT of moolah
