Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that today. Btw I'm using Apple's Lightning-to-USBC cable, hooked up to my Mac to charge. What happens if you let the battery discharge to below 10%, then plug in to charge uninterrupted?
Set it aside for that time, if possible.
If that is unsuccessful for you (still does not charge past 90%), then, yes, you should return for exchange, or refund.
Are you using the supplied cable and adapter? - or some other alternative for charging?
It’s quite literally happening to other people if you read around the forum, stulaw. On the charger 3 hours and hasn't gone up? It's not a beta product not seeing others or mine have this; bit clickbaity title.
Just a dud, exchange it.
NopeAre you fast charging it? Remember Samsung put a charging cap on the Note7 up to only 60% initially through a software update. Fast charging generates alot of heat.
Since when these kind of “duds” start to happen with Iphones?
Ok a few, but not the majority. As said a restarts fixes it for some. May be a software bugIt’s quite literally happening to other people if you read around the forum, stulaw.
Do a hard restart. It's a software bug; I had the same problem.
iOS 11.x is buggy for sure. The Face ID hardware feels like v0.9. It's definitely slower than touch and you have to be fully awake and facing the cameras straight up.
Yup, tried that yesterday, and it did improve from capping at 80% to capping at 90%A normal shut down and restart works.
Approximately 2007.Since when these kind of “duds” start to happen with Iphones?
This.If a restart does not get you past this, are you using the iPhone X while charging? You can actually use more energy then the charging system can add to the battery.

I have the same problem. Turning it off and back on changes it to 100% but it doesn’t fix the problem. Maybe I have to do a reset. Annoying to think that I might have to return my phone. For the past ~3 hours, it's been at 90%
