Everyone knows that the Mac Address Book is perhaps the weakest module in its suite of personal productivity apps. What we need is a modular architecture, similar in nature to the iPhone apps. But barring that here's what I do to stay on top, and you may find it crazy but...
1. I enter my business cards in CardScan on the VMware Fusion side. Reason: it has business-card scanner support. Not available on the Mac.
2. I sync via CardScan.net because it pushes updates to my entire list, so that people can help me keep my list relatively clean (those that respond that is).
3. I sync my CardScan file to Microsoft Outlook which has a Plaxo toolbar so I can then sync it to Address Book, which also has the Plaxo toolbar.
4. The Address Book then syncs with MobileMe and the iPhone.
Phew!
Now you know why I'm looking for a solution, because each steps adds like 40-100 entries due to various synching errors, so my CardScan.net database now shows I have 2100 contacts, while I only have about 1700 on my desktop...
