Called the local Apple store to ask if Retina Pro is in stock,
they asked me is this for personal or business use ?

Never heard that asked before, think someone else was asked the same.

Why?

Apparently, at least one person posted said that we should say business instead of home, as when he did, they wrote down his name and said they would call when they have them in stock. Favoritism?

Businesses usually buy a lot of equipment at once perhaps?

My facts to lay out:

I called my local store several times today.
When I identified myself as a personal user, I was told they had sold zero, hadn't seen them yet and don't have any idea on a timeframe of having stock.
When I identified myself as a business user, I talked to a manager I personally know, and was told they did have some this morning and sold them and are expecting stock by the end of this week.

Basically, I think business customers get: better staff to talk to, more informed staff, better information and all around a better experience.

They do that now? WTH! If it was me, I'd tell them, "It's for Facebook but I have the money so what's the problem?" :D

Edit: reading the post above me, now it makes sense. Thanks, Zach.

I would tell them it doesn't matter. It's none of their business.

So personal users are now 2nd class to Apple?

I wouldn't say that..

If a small business is going to purchase $100K of product from you, and Zach Nelson is going to purchase $2.5K of product from you, who is more important to keep informed etc.

They're in a business to make money, as a consumer I understand that..
