With iPhone and iPad Apple put up a flashy(*) features page immediately after the announcement saying "pre orders on <whatever-date>" but there was also a "Tech Specs" link at the top of the page, as there tends to be with all Apple products (e.g. https://www.apple.com/uk/iphone-13-pro/), but for Apple Watch S7 there is just the flashy features page with no detailed technical specifications officially posted at least as far as I can see. This seems really odd to me. As a wearable physical dimensions are incredibly important, at least to me, and I already find the Series 6 at the limit of the thickness I can tolerate and it quite often gets stuff on the cuff of my shirts yet if I want to jump in on the pre-orders I seem to be left having to take a leap of faith that Apple haven't increased the thickness.
I probably wouldn't upgrade from my 6 were it not for the fact that I fancy a different colour (so in fact it probably won't be an upgrade, more a move to having 2 watches) but I do want a SS gold so I suppose my only option, unless Apple does post specs in the next few minutes, is going to be to take that leap of faith and then return it if the thickness is more than a few tenths of a millimetre greater than my S6. If they have shaved anything at all off the thickness, even 0.1mm, I would be very happy though because even a tiny bit thinner would at least be a step in the right direction.
Why not wait until later and wait for all the specs to be released, or even go and see it in person I hear you ask. What, miss all the pre-order excitement and release-day delivery thrill? No way!
(*) Not literally Flashy (as in Adobe Flash). That is yet another great legacy Steve left us. His campaign to rid the internet of Flash and refusal to support it on iPad is something I am very grateful for.
