As far as I can tell -- haven't had an issue where something didn't look/work right when I use maps or navigation. And your iPhone’s compass functions properly? ( such as when using maps)
What about the Motion Calibration setting under that same menu? You have that disabled too? That’s for the step counter I believe and workoutsAs far as I can tell -- haven't had an issue where something didn't look/work right when I use maps or navigation.
I have that disabled as well, but I also don't use the step counter or those type of features. What about the Motion Calibration setting under that same menu? You have that disabled too? That’s for the step counter I believe and workouts
Oh so you don’t use the health and fitness features of the phone and Apple Watch, I think that for proper performance of these features I should leave compass calibration and motion calibration enabled but then again I’m not certain if these settings affect these things which is why I created this threadI have that disabled as well, but I also don't use the step counter or those type of features.
Settings --> Compass --> toggle True North OFF.Question: mine is calibrated wrong. South is North. East is West. How do I recalibrate that?
I filed a bug report on this a few years ago. On the iPhone 6s or later, compass calibration relies on the M9 chip (or later) which is always-on. They said that since the hardware responsible is always on, it will not cause any additional battery drain.
Ha thanks for that hint- I was always wondering why stupid google maps couldn’t show me where I was looking at - because I had that turned off.how come that the compass orientation in google maps literally stops working when “compass calibration” is turned off then?
