It's annoying when I want to vacuum clean the house and I cant listen to music from my pc using bluetooth headset because the audio starts skipping after moving only like 5m away from the computer. However if I listen via bluetooth using my iphone or macbook I get crystal clear bt signal coverage throughout the entire house.

Why is iphone and macbook bluetooth coverage way better than a desktop pc bluetooth dongle?

I would go with bigger antenna, more power for it thus better signal delivered. Most of them dongles I have seen are tiny little things like the mouse dongle for the 2.4 wireless.
Edit: typo "from it" was the word meant.
I installed a Bluetooth module in my Mac Pro. I can't see the full length of the antenna that was there as it tucks in behind the motherboard, but the antenna in the Mac Pro is probably over a foot long.
I don’t use other than BT air pods or play Beats.
They’re both good for 30 feet- metrics not happening today.
For more range I play through my old Sansui or Onkyo receivers I tend towards using BT transceivers through my stereos, dislike headphones.
Just checkout YouTube, breakerbroke23?? For BT happiness, 3000 ft. Square of pleasure.
Old horse hair plaster walls, granite walls no problem with signal reaching 70 feet away to the garage in quadraphonic sound with no headset required. Except for air pods for calls.
Checkout tigerdirect or Best Buy for desktop pleasure.
My transceiver was $10 at goodwill or I’d drop the name. Honestly can’t remember it.

Look at what class your Bluetooth dongle is rated for. Class is different than Bluetooth Version, Class describes the max permitted power of the signal, and approximates how far it will reach.
Class 1 is around 100 meters
Class 2 is around 10 meters
Class 3 is around 1 meter
etc.
I think many bluetooth dongles for computers are only Class 2 or 3 because they don't expect you to be moving very far away from the computer.
I believe Apple typically uses class 1 bluetooth in their iPhones, iPads, Beats, and Airpod devices.
