You buy from or register with a business one time and they spam you with annoying ads. When you try to unsubscribe they ask you 10 more questions and make it difficult to fully unsubscribe. Even after you follow through to the end they continue to send the same daily/weekly emails.

Why would they want to annoy their customers? Do they they really think a large percentage of people are motivated to shop somewhere by “sales” coupons or advertising anymore?
 
Just write back to them:
"Thanks for repeatedly ignoring my requests to unsubscribe from your constant and annoying e-mails. It has helped me to determine that I will never do business with your company/store any more. In fact, I have just purchased a ______ from ______ which you will recognize as a competitor. Thanks again."
 
Unsubscribing never works for me. The idea of giving more info seems counter-intuitive. I block the source of the email and have it spammed before I see it. The challenge is to actually determine the sender. You have to see the whole sender info and make a good guess.

Yeah, I have little success unsubscribing from emails. I had to use Zoom one friggin time in the summer and ever since they just pester me with over 10 times I unsubscribed. Got fed up and sent them to Spam. Have had to do the same thing for a few others recently. I do not recall having so much trouble unsubscribing from emails in past years, only an occasional rogue one that wouldn't listen. Perhaps it's a new marketing ploy...

All the unsubscribes that I have done have simply been the case where all I that have to do is enter my e-mail address. If it were the case, that in order to have unsubscribe, was to enter more information, all I would do is “Move to Junk” for the e-mail. The spam filter seems to work well once I do that.

They want to use "Unsubscribe" because it verifies your email address. I have a server that supports a couple of remaining customers, one customer gets a lot of spam and the service I use gets rid of all of it. I delete 10-15 messages a day, but I always check to make sure the are spam. The service has a black list where I can put repeat offenders.

Because they are not usually, the one's sending emails. Those are frequently contracted out and until their "list" is updated, and maybe even for a time after that, you continue to get them.
If you are really lucky, that also gets you on a list that is then chopped around.
Fun times.

Unsubscribe is a 50/50 for me for most name brand companies I've tried it on. It gets really frustrating when I delete my account with X company but the mail still comes and unsubscribe doesn't work.

I don't think it's intentional annoyance - my guess is most managers see it as a cost not worth the expense.

Most people's phones I've had the privilege of seeing, I usually see thousands of emails on their inbox - and it's mostly spam I'm told.

I own several domains and have had the interesting experience of creating RetailerXYZ@mydomain.com addresses to see who spams and sells out my info - it's surprising how many big name brand companies do this. It's just printing $ for them.

In was inquiring about a used Mini Countryman at a local Ford dealer by email and suddenly I am getting all kinds of crap from all kinds of dealers and financing.

Unsubscribe generally works for me. It sometimes takes awhile to be implemented, but I don't have a persistent one that I can't get rid of. I also have a separate e-mail address to use with businesses. It keeps those segregated from the messages from family and friends.
 
As mentioned earlier, blocking the sender should help. Just click on the sender's name in the email and select "block this contact". Future emails are supposed to go directly to archive.

One of my bigger issues is post unsubscribe. It seems to work, then a couple to a few months later you find yourself getting them all over again.

I don't use that. I just make it a habit of checking in every day. I follow threads until they die or veer off of the topic, or I just lose interest. I don't need to be told a thread I'm interested in has new posts. I just Mark Forums Read each time I visit.

What I was referencing aren’t posts or threads from sites like this. These I am speaking of are emails, texts, or calls from places I have unsubscribed. Example: Cruise lines. Took a cruise. Unsubscribed from the site I originally booked through. A few months later I am suddenly getting email advertisments from them for cruises. I have been internetimagically been ununsubscribed.
 
Unless its a legit email,no human reads them, so responding back usually doesn't take any notice. usually sent from <noreply@.......)

Besides, these emails address usually not monitored. Only legit companies guarantee successful unsubscribing..

If doubtful, google it first. Eeven legit company unssubscription email is tough to know weather if its legit or fake. because there swept in the same 'non-monitored' area.
