iPod touch *Why is it some apps when installed do not show up on the menu?

It appears some apps don't work? I'm new to the whole jailbreaking the itouch thing so i'm just wondering, or maybe it's the version of my itouch or my jailbreak? My itouch is version 1.1.5 and my jailbreak is 3.11, any light on this subject please
