I can't figure it out, why is iTunes so slow? It's been running really slow on me for the past 2 or 3 days now.

I checked Activity Monitor and it says I've got only 2 GB of my 3 GB of RAM being used. Not much is happening with the CPU.

I tried going off the network to see if maybe that would speed it up, nothing happened. (I was thinking someone else might have been streaming without my knowledge, but apparently if they were, it wasn't the issue.)

I tried restarting iTunes. Again, nothing happened.

I've heard having a large library can slow it down, but I haven't added anything to my library for about three weeks and like I said, this has only been happening for a few days. (I have about 23 GB worth of stuff.)

I've heard a lot of smart playlists can slow it down... I have... six smart playlists... I haven't added any for several months. I do have a normal playlist that got created a little before it started to slow down... bringing my total on normal playlists to eight.

Specifically what I've had be slow...
Selecting a new song.
Changing playlists.
Opening the info window
Switching to iTunes (like, I'll select the iTunes window, but Safari or whatever other program I was using before will stay on top for several seconds. And no, I haven't installed or started using any new programs for months.)
Skipping around a song (so skipping for 30 seconds to 2 minutes.)

What hasn't been slow:
Play/Pause
Search/Filter (at least not that I've noticed.)
