Why is my bill so expensive?

I've got the plan with 450 minuted ($69.99/mo) + unlimited texting ($20.00/mo). My nights start at 7 PM. My bill has been $163 for like the past couple of months. For those of you with a similar plan, how much is your bill after taxes, surcharges, etc.?

Also, if I decide to get another phone from AT&T, will I have to pay to cancel my iPhone plan and then sign a new contract? How does that work?

You have to pay extra per month to get the nights starting at 7pm. If you are not and you are talking during the 7-9 pm, then you are probably being charged by the minute. I also think if your call time starts at let's say 8:57pm and you talk to any time after 9pm, ALL those minutes are by the minute, hence not covered in the 5000 night and weekend minutes.

Your bill with your plan should run you less than $100 after fees and taxes.

That is weird. My Bill is $94.99 every month. I have everything you have except the earlier nights and weekends, mines start at 9PM. I have only paid a little over $94.99 when I send texts to foreign countries but thats it. Check your statement online and the paper one if you receive it. If you add up everything and its not what your paying you HAVE to call AT&T and ask to speak to a manager or something like that. Good lucK! Also, you should get refunded all the money you have been paying extra. Why haven't you called or looked into this before?

Its amazing how "stupid" (not directed at you OP) some consumers are. A bill is suspected to be too high or higher than usual, and the consumer instead of finding out why there and then, continues to pay the high bill for couple months, and in this economy. Amazing.

This is unbelievably true. If my bill is even 5 dollars more then usual I will do a ALL OUT investigation

that's why i recommended talking to at&t?

I didn't say I didn't believe him, but rather to cal at&t and figure out what's going on.

I definitely do believe him, we all know that at&t will gladly take every cent they can from you.

Go to ATT.com, log in, view your full bill, and see why they're charging you so much.

My bill has been $20 more these couple of months because when I activated my iPhone they were still charging me for the old phone's plan... then they decided to charge me now. But I looked EVERYWHERE for an answer... was about to call them, but the full bill thing helped... along with my knowledge of my previous bills.

Also, if this is your first bill (which it sounds like it is), an activation fee will be on there (I thinks it's about 30 bucks). The first bill is always super high. But as someone else pointed out - you have to factor in the early nights you signed up for.

Sometimes you have to audit your bill. I was charged for a couple of calls to China but at a ridicouls rate. I was supposed to be paying $.18/min instead they charged me $2.95/min. That was about a $200 difference in my bill. Of course now AT&T sends the shortened version of the bill in the mail making it a little harder to audit.
