I have a 256gb iPhone and I’ve used 62gb of that space (everything is synced to iCloud). On my Mac this iPhones backup is 91gb.

Anyone know why it’s so huge and how to get it down to a reasonable size?

Many thanks.

M.

Backups are not static - it contains what's on the iPhone now ALONG WITH any changes that have been made, or any files that have been deleted. So example: You record a video, you back up your phone, you move that video to your computer and delete it from the phone, you update the backup - the backup doesn't shrink; the video is still a part of it.
