Why is my login icon changing itself.

Go to System Preferences --> Accounts and Groups. Select your account and click Address Book Card. Change the picture there. It takes some time for it to show up everywhere.

Thing is I selected this when I bought this mac months ago. Does match what is in the address book. Yesterday it changed on its own somehow several times.

It is definitely buggy. But usually my procedure works. It started happening after iCloud was made public. The system had to manage your picture in 3 places -- Login Window, your AddressBook card and iCloud website. So it gets confused sometimes.

I guess it is fixed in Mountain Lion
