Since there is no way to uninstall 5.1 from lion it would make no sense to have an installer.

Oh? Huh, that's weird... if I run
Code:
sudo rm /Applications/Safari.app
it will uninstall quite easily. Also, if I move it to the Trash in PathFinder it works just fine. Finder prevents it, but that doesn't mean "there is no way". There's always a way, Finder just makes it difficult (and rightly so).

That being said, you should NEVER EVER remove Safari from OS X. I'm just illustrating that it's possible.

I'm so going to remove Safari right now from Lion. Thanks for the how-to. ;)

ok great you can forcibly remove the app....and why would you do this?

You must not have read my post very closely. I said that you wouldn't ever actually want to do this. I'm simply pointing out that saying there's no way to do it, as you did, is not correct and it can be done.

It's just a terrible idea to do so.

I removed Safari successfully. There is no install disc with the new 11" Air. I tried Restore partition but it is a FULL Lion install. Another issue was the internal HD was LOCKED so I can't do a full Lion install from Restore partition. WTF?! Apple is starting to piss me off.

Why? Safari contains somewhat critical pieces that the OS uses. It doesn't take up that much space either.

This I don't understand. What says it is locked?
