Why is SL saying it's taking 1 hours to install

Installing SL now, saying it's gonna be 50+ minutes. I'm at 33 minutes now. What's the deal? BTW, I'm doing an over the top upgrade.

a far cry from the 15 minutes that was advertised. I chalk it up to my 500GB hard drive with 140GB of music on it.

I don't remember Apple saying it'll install in 15 minutes

A clean install on a new machine is quick. An upgrade on a full older Mac will be slower. e.g. Upgrade on a MBP mid 09 took 40 odd minutes. Would have been about 20 if i'd done clean install.

Mine was done in 42 minutes. Everything working as usual so far.

Thus far SL is a big yawn - not experiencing any "under the hood" performance improvements - early reaction is that I wasted a few $$.

Same here. So far if anything, I notice slower responses all around. Especially from safari.

Yeah it finally came back on...I thought I lost her there for a minute.

I notice nothing. All my apps I use freaquently still take the normal time to start up (3-4 bounces and a 2-3 second hang). iTunes, iPhoto, Lightroom 2, Firefox, Photoshop CS4, Handbrake, Word, Excel, Mail all start up as they have normally done. I did notice that Spotlight is re-indexing my stuff.

didn't get an option for clean install. I'm installing using remote disc on an MBA. started with saying 45 mins but it looks like itll be longer. installing over ethernet from MBP to MBA.

About 55 minutes on my mini. And yes it did reboot with about 45 minutes left.

i watched an entire movie while installing on my MBP. It said 39 minutes left. then it said 40, now it says 41 minutes left after about an hour and 20 minutes.

SL finished on my mba. now to play with it for a bit before installing it on the mbp
