Why is some music downloaded on 4s but unable to be played/selected?

I just downloaded music for the first time onto my wife's new 4s. Some of the music is showing up on the phone but is grey in color and unable to be selected. Is this a known problem with the 4s? What can I do to fix it?

I'm having the same issue but curiously i have found it to be playable if you select it from the Album art flow.
