Retina got so much marketing focus that people want it. The cMBP is widely regarded as a style that's on the way out.

At $1200, I'd say you got a reasonable deal. The flip side of the resale argument is that at that price, you'll probably have less absolute depreciation.
 
They're on Apple's refurb store for $1449 at the moment (w/ one year warranty), meaning any pre-owned models of the same generation with wear and tear and no warranty will be worth considerably less. (At least a few hundred less.)

That's not the top of the line model though.

I'm talking about the one with the 2.6 GHz i7 processor. ($1,819.00 on refurb store)

Also, if you check that eBay link, that computer has AppleCare until 2015. Insane.
