I don't mind it I'm wondering if apple gave a reason why its on the left like they explained inverted scrolling.

I'm not complaining I'm a lefty as well I like it on the left too. Maybe it's that way cause Steve jobs is a lefty too :)
 
I don't know whether there's an actual explanation. They've been there since System 1, before Windows even existed (and Windows pre-95 had Close on the left too - it's actually still there even in Win 7 if you know to click there).
