Is there a way to make fonts universally smaller on the iPhone4 ? I already have Large Text turned off in Accessibility settings.

The fonts are so big for menus or list items, (A app store listing displays only like 5 items per view) that it seems a ridiculous waste of retina display resolution. There are 960 pixels vertically, and the amount of items displayed is far from what 960 pixels can do on a computer. This is one of the main reasons why I don't use phones more often.

Would a jailbreak enable smaller fonts and UI elements?

This is actually very worrying since when Apple finally moves iPad or Macs to retina display, will they use it only to increase clarity and not workspace at all?

I don't know if any way to adjust the font size on the phone.

Your argument about this expanding towards Macs as well is unfounded seeing as you have always been able to adjust display settings through MacOS.

The retina display isn't to increase working space but to increase clarity.

If they make things smaller it will become harder to read.
